This was a sunrise shot at Cannon Beach last month. A 30 seconds exposure using a variable nd filter to allow enough light (it was almost dark) and to smooth out the rough surf.
Very nice mood to this image, Don, from the choice to use the nd filter. Great comp, too. I really like the lay of the land in the foreground and how easily the eye travels on out to the ocean and sea stacks. Very nicely done.

Nice shot Don! I also really like the mood of this shot. Also the warm colors. To me it has the look of a skilled painting, like something from Jeffrey Hull (he has a very nice gallery in Canon Beach).
This is a minor thing but I would suggest cropping of the top 3rd of the sky, just down to the line made by the clouds. I think that would make it just a bit stronger. But I like it as is too.
Thanks, Catherine, for the comments.
Thanks, Steve, for your thoughts. I did think about cropping some of the sky, but thought that would put the horizon too much in the center and take away some of the cloud effects with the long exposure.
