Trying to Stay Dry
Seeking solace on Presidents Day weekend in Yosemite as well as get something other than the standard shots, I found myself all alone in the swirling mist at the base of Upper Yosemite Falls.

c&c welcome!

Really nice, Monika, and I like your choice of B&W to emphasize the texture of the rough granite surfaces.

Just curious, but what method do you use to convert your image to B&W?

Thanks, Howard. I use Nik Silver Efex. I really like the Nik software -- very easy to use w/o masking, it's automatically in Layers, so you can turn them on/off, delete w/o being destructive.

Very nicely done! One of the strongest shots you've posted recently, in both composition and the conversion to b&w. I like the precision of the composition, seen most clearly in the way the right-hand side of the "cave" framing the falls perfectly includes the small tree on the skyline.

Monika, which"number" setting in Silver Efex did you use for this image?

Monika,, you recorded so very well the precision of the various angles and curves presented from the perspective of your shooting location. Though I am a novice when it comes to B&W I think this image is stunning. Thanks for posting

Oh, I like this! :) Wonderful depth, and love that small tree way back in the distance. Very nice Monika!

Howard, I used the "wet rocks" preset, but subtracted it from the sky. There was already some haloing in the raw file & applying that preset made it very big. It's still there, but, like I said, it was there in the original.

Glenn, Sandra & Brent, thanks for your kind words.

And thanks to all of you for sticking with the forum (vs FB)!

Love it! This is so unique and the black and white treatment is fantastic. Nice work!

Very different view of the falls. Well done.
