Interpretive Images
Because of job demands, my travel time has been severely limited the past couple of years. That's left me spending time with my catalog of past images to reevaluate compositions and treatments.

One thing I've gotten interested in is "interpreting" the photo to create an impression of the scene rather than a more literal image of what the eye sees.

This is an "interpretation of a scene of St. Mary Lake on the East end of the Going to Sun Road in Glacier National Park. I used PS to add or subtract brightness to selected layers in the original scene.

C&C always welcome and appreciated.

I have always liked images like this. I think it's due to my early education as a graphic arts student. I don't think it looks un-natural and wouldn't have known that you'd done any post processing out of the ordinary. The compression of the image has likely done something to make it appear somewhat pixelated though.

Howard,
I really like it. I did notice the pixelation or noise or texture, but because it could be seen as a more representational medium that just documentation, I don't have any problem with it.

Howard, First I commend you for spending time with your catalog despite limited travel time. 2nd, I appreciate your interest in the interpretive approach. Regarding this image, agree with the others about the "noise" but as Monika noted could be seen as a more representational medium. In any case, I do like it and would be interested to see others in which you have taken the same approach.

Thank you, Bob, Monika, and Sandra for your kind words. Sandra, I'm sure you've heard the expression, "Be Careful what you wish for; you may get it."

I will be posting a few other images one at a time. I don't want to overload anyone's senses.
