OT: Exploring New Zealand's South Island
Hello everyone! It's great to see all of your wonderful images from the Rocky Mountain region - it makes me miss home! I thought I'd share two of my favorite photos from my trips in New Zealand so far. I've managed to explore much of the South Island since arriving in October and have many plans for more adventures.

The first photo was taken in November of Lake Mackenzie in Fiordland National Park along the Routeburn Track. Stormy weather cleared to provide this great view the morning of our departure from the lake. The landscape of Fiordland is my favorite in the world and I'm so happy to be near enough to explore it again.

As always I welcome your feedback! :wavey:

The second image is of Adelaide Tarn in Kahurangi National Park. This fairly remote location is about 30 km or 19 miles in from the nearest trailhead and provides a unique New Zealand experience with its "basic" hut facility. Thick fog cleared to allow the warm light of the sunset to illuminate the surrounding peaks.

Magnificent photos. Although the bottom one seems a bit left tilted to me, I like it better than the top which has a greenish cast on my monitor, and I am not sure about the foliage in the foreground. Re: left tilt: I've been accused of being a bit tilted to the right so take that with a large grain of salt. That being said, both are sharp, well-composed and well done. I really like the inclusion of the hut and person which show not only the vastness of the area, but also the relative size of the "basic" hut.

Beautiful, Crystal! You're making me homesick! :) My family lived in Invercargill for a year and loved heading to the mountains as often as possible...

Tim!

Tim - Invercargill is one of the only places I have yet to visit in NZ! I'll have to make it there!
