November Theme: Fall's End
Please excuse my lateness in posting the November theme. Doug Koepsel suggested that since we did not have the fall color contest this year that we should post our favorites here. Good thinking Doug!

Living in Central Arizona there are areas down here that are yet to make the fall change. I'm planning a trip at the end of the month for the Huachuca Mountains, located near the US/MX border that will be showing color. I have had the opportunity to get around a bit this season, here's one from Oak Creek, Sedona.

On a trip back from Seattle I happened to drive along the Yakima River in Washington during rainy weather to pick up this one of a nice little walking bridge.

Here's one of my favorites from this fall. My best? I don't know, but I like it.

Here's the first of three that said fall to winter for me. Captured just beyond the Kebler Pass summit just west of Crested Butte this past September.

This is the second "transitional" image from this past September. The hillside is adjacent to the turnoff to Lake Irwin on the Kebler Pass Road.

We were hoping for a snow-covered East Beckwith Peak with the broad forest of yellow and gold aspen beneath but the clouds and fog changed that with only glimpses of East Beckwith. Nevertheless, it was a great morning.

I decided to stay in Flagstaff this past fall for local flavor rather than go to southwest Colorado. Judging from the images on the web with the delayed color and snow in the San Juans, it may have been a poor decision. Here is an image overlooking Lockett Meadow on the San Francisco Peaks on one of the few cloudy days.

Didn't get out much this fall. This is one shot I got in RMNP at the Storm Pass Trailhead. The original image is a stitch of 56 images shot at f22, 1/15th, 200mm, yielding a final size of 60"x120"@300dpi.

Yea, I was certainly hoping for a dramatic sunset over the Ruby Range, but didn't anticipate this would happen. A truly wild thunderhead, particularly in late September. It was a real challenge for my sensor to capture this tremendous dynamic range! Thus, this is a two image blend.

I just spent two days photographing fall colors in the La Sal Mountains this year, but got some nice light on day 2.

Here's the same scene 20 minutes earlier.

It is the end of November and the fall colors in southern Arizona are still coming. I crested a hill and was treated to this contrast of saguaros against sycamores and cottonwoods.
