I think I'm doing all the right things to have a color calibrated system, but I still find that what I see on my regularly-calibrated monitor doesn't look quite like my prints. So, I resort to "proof" prints. I hate to waste ink, so I usually proof a smaller size. I have been making all color adjustments, etc, then saving a master file. Then I resize to 4x6 and print a proof. Would I be better off printing a small crop of the full size file? I wondering if the resampling involved in resizing changes color.
Yes, I would suggest printing a small crop or crops of the full size so you can also assess sharpness, detail, and any other artifacts that you may see in the final version.
