Agree Stan, I believe it's been a couple years for a new 1D also. Not sure what you don't like about the 5D MIII? Bottom line, is during that time Nikon has produced four or five new cameras.

What I'm really interested in is whether they will have a new improved sensor, or a 70D sensor with improved processing. If the latter, I think my 7D will suite me fine for a while

I have not been too bothered by not having a higher MP sensor; but it would be nice if they provide a development announcement.
As for the 7D-II - I have the 7D and 5D Mark II. Sometimes I use the 7D as a second camera and I always carry it as a backup; but nothing has convinced me to buy another crop body. The biggest reason may be my motorsports shooting where my lens selections really scream for a second full frame. So I am waiting for a high MP full frame camera - or maybe I'll find a second hand 1DX. Then my 7D really goes on hiatus.
