I just received my copy of Erik Stensland's new book, "Wild Light" and could list a page of superlatives: super, great, outstanding, excellent, artistic, comprehensive, exploratory, introspective, masterful, and much more. I've already read it cover to cover and now will go back to really immerse myself in his images. Everything about this book says "quality" from the protective packaging to the high quality paper used, the layout, binding and dust jacket.

I worked in Rocky for two summers while in college (one on campground clean up where I wanted to burn my clothes every night and the other in back country trail-building and maintenance where I got to see and experience some of the things Erik beautifully presents) and Erik's images brought back a flood of some of life's greatest memories (not the campground clean up year!).

I think this is the definitive photographic work on Rocky - much better than anything anyone else has ever done. If you haven't ordered this book, go to Erik's website and order it now. You won't regret it.

Congratulations, Erik.

Thanks so much Doug! I'm glad you are enjoying the book. It was a big labor of love and it does my heart good to know that others are enjoying it.

The book isn't for sale yet. About 730 people, including Doug, got in on our special pre-order sale that we held this past spring. However, it will go public on the afternoon of September 3rd in conjunction with the kickoff for the 100th anniversary celebrations for Rocky Mountain National Park.

At 4pm on September 3rd we will be having a really big book launch in Estes Park with live music, plein air painters, great food, spirits, a specially decorated gallery, etc, etc. You can find out more at this link: http://tinyurl.com/ltqf528

We will then be releasing it to the National Park stores, other stores in and around the National Park and eventually down to the Front Range. It will also be for sale on my website www.ImagesofRMNP.com beginning on September 3rd.

How much did Erik pay you to write this?

Okay, these are going to be the most painful words I've ever written, but Erik's book is actually quite darn friggin' good. I bought mine because I thought looking at all his bad images would make me feel better about my own photography. So when I opened it and saw all the breathtaking photos, well-written text, and professional design, I could not have been more disappointed...

Doug is not exaggerating! The book is absolutely gorgeous; Erik's photos come to life on the pages. Erik's got a special way of capturing the essence and feeling of the places, in a wide variety of light situations and times of day. The book is a treasure - highly, highly recommended for your coffee table!

Anxious. Mine is still tracking in the Denver Sort Facility since the 24th. Can someone go over there and kick it onto a Vegas-bound truck please?!

Mine showed up earlier this week, and I've looked through it a number of times, each time more and more impressed with not only the outstanding photography (as expected!), but the great and informative narrative!
Well done!

Thanks everyone for your very kind words! I hope some of you will be able to join us on Wednesday evening, we are going to be throwing quite the party up here in Estes Park to celebrate the launch of this book. You are all invited.

I've learned so much from this group and so many of you have helped me on my photographic journey over this last decade. I'm not sure where I would be without all of your help. Thank you!
:toast:

So, please come and join us on Wednesday September 3rd from 4pm-8pm at my gallery here in downtown Estes Park. Here's a link with more details: http://imagesofrmnp.com/launch

Erik, as it so happens, I'll be up there to do some hiking/photo research for my blog Wednesday and Thursday. I'll stop by and say hi!

Let me chime in that this is one of the very best books of its kind that I have seen. I cannot imaging how much time it took to do the creative layouts and stuff that surrounds these gorgeous images. This is a truly beautiful book. I cannot wait to see what Erik releases for his encore! :jump:
