ID this flower for me?
I shot this wildflower on Shrine Ridge in mid July, but no idea what it is, except maybe a kind of poppy (or not...). My wildflower book has all flowers like this with 5 petals, but this one has 6. I'm confused and would appreciate some help!

Thanks!

Bob,
In my wildflower book, I don't see an exact match either. The closest thing I see is the Mountain Dryad, which is supposed to have 8 petals.

I can't tell from the size; it looks a lot like Western Thimbleberry, except that it has 6 petals.

Don and Craig...I ran into the same things, and also a Globeflower, which is supposed to only have 5 petals. I'm wondering if it's an odd variant of one of these.

You might ask on the Flora Forum - someone is sure to know.
