For everyone: The Viveza software is exceptional for reclaiming detail and darkening white areas without losing definition, along with many other things. http://www.google.com/nikcollection/products/viveza/

KILLER program. IMO, a MUST for bird photogs, particularly, to add definition to fragile feathers. but extremely useful for ALL images.

Sandy, I use this program for specifically what you've mentioned. The Control Panel points are an excellent tool IMO. I've used Viveza for quite sometime now and find it has made needed adjustments very easy. Like you, I highly recommend it too. You can't beat the Google / NIK package of products as an add on to PS.

Two thumbs up for Viveza for all kinds of images for the reasons Sandy mentions. Good basic tune up for color, structure, sharpness, too in both global and local adjustments to images. It' become a standard part of my processing workflow. Worthy for tryout especially during free trial offers. Go for it!
