Daisy was faithful & true, our devoted & courageous companion for 13 years. We rescued her from from an abusive home at two years old. Then she survived a copperhead bite (but lost an eye), a true survivor.
Wonderful Mom, (she had one litter with us). Survived by Boo-Boo (one of four off-spring that’s still with us). Of all the dogs I’ve known, she had that something special in her character that’s hard to define.
We have a large hole in our hearts with her passing today..
A very remarkable & even tempered loving dog, we will miss her dearly.

Sorry to hear this very sad update, Howard. I recall you mentioning once before about her run in with a copperhead and the resulting eye loss too. An amazing survival story in itself.
Having lost many of our own family critters over time during my long life it is always an empty feeling each time without a doubt.
Losing a member of one's family is always difficult even when you know it's going to happen. Sounds like you have lots of really good memories of Daisy plus lots of photos. I'm sure Boo-Boo is missing her as well. Probably when the time is right another special dog will be welcomed into your home. But for now remember the good times with her.

I will pass on your condolences to my wife, thank you all so much..
She reminded me this morning there's a doggy heaven, no doubt in her mind. She's up there right now with Buddy & Rosie having a ball.

Sorry for your loss - I have experienced the pain (even though it was my wife's dog and I only spent a few years with it) and know how you feel. All you can do is focus on the great memories you have and how much richer your life is because of this family member.
My sincerest condolences, Howard. I have had dogs my entire life, but after our last dog had to be put down, I couldn't stand the thought of going through that again. After 4 years, I relented and we took into a rescue retriever. I agree with you that about some dogs being special. That's how I feel about the one we have now.
