Winter time Warrior
This was taken this last winter , right in the middle of the coldest weather we had. This male was the dominant hummer and was very protective of the feeder I had out. As the weather turned colder the more hummers showed up and I ended up with twelve of them hanging around trying to get some nectar but this male was ferocious in defending his territory and I was forced to put up another feeder in the back of my house so the others wouldn't starve. In the end I lost two female Anna's in two days and as the weather warmed up the others just disappeared leaving this warrior, and I would like to touch on something that was brought up in my last winter hummer post and that is the fact that Anna's hummingbirds winter over here in NW Oregon and Washington and I get more hummers to my feeder in the winter time than I do during the summer because of the abundant food supply.

Nice! I always love your bird photographs, and this is no exception. I can imagine an almost square crop that would remove some of the distracting twists at the bottom pf e frame, but it's lovely as is.
