Goldfinch Goodbye
Goldfinches winter here, and I keep them well fed. About now, they grow their beautiful golden feathers to replace their duller, winter ones. It seems, that they have now moved North. so, I won't see them until next Fall.
But, a few weeks ago my last goldfinch photo looked like they had both developed "patchwork quilt" disease  as their new feathers were growing in in patches, not all at once.

I thought you might like seeing what these pretty, little birds look like when they "transition"

Nice shot, Lucy. I've noticed the same thing over the past few weeks. I blogged about it at http://volusianaturalist.com/ if you're interested.
