Patrick, I almost missed this. Sorry I can't meet up to shoot, I'm tied up with some prior commitments. Yes, there are still a couple of snowies around. if you have a rental your best bet may be Salibury State Park. You would go 128 to 95 north and get off on rte 110 (first exit after crossing the Merrimack rive just after Newburyport). Follow 110 out to the coast. You should be able to get a map off Google. There were still two snowy owls there as of last Thursday. One mature (white) and one younger (still with the barring). The older one tends to hang out in the first 500 yards after turning in to the park access road watch the right side. The younger one hangs out on the light poles in a parking lot on the left side of that same section. he will come down into the fields there on occasion. It is worth driving the entire park road just to see what it there. While you are in the vicinity it can be worthwhile to check out Plum Island (Parker River National Wildlife Refuge) back on the seaward side of Newburyport. The Joppa Flats Audubon building and the Refuge headquarters are located across from one another on the way out to the refuge. Drop in there to see what they have been seeing and where. If you are confined nearer to Newton, see if you can get to Mt. Auburn Cemetery. It sounds a little crazy, but it is one of the more active spots for a lot of the migrating land birds. There used to be a resident Red Tailed Hawk as well. The cemetery office folks are generally helpful in telling people where things have been sighted.
