Owlets
A great horned owl and her owlets are hanging out in the cottonwoods near the Home Depot on Airport Way. I got out there yesterday for a few decent shots. The first is of "mamabear" and in the next reply I'll put ones of the twins.

These are all using the Canon 100-400 at about 365-400mm, tripod, and ISO varied, but the best were shot at 250 ISO or below (7D is not as good at high ISO as they say).

Feedback welcome, but this is mostly just for sharing the sight.

What fun to see them, Marylynne. Thanks for posting. The youngsters look healthy. The one below looks hungry or mad or something– obviously aroused, anyway. Looks like the perfect owl tree, too– huge old and gnarly with branches going every which-way. Big leaf Maple tree??

The owlet on the lower branch was more perky the whole time I was there. When I took this pic, a loud semi had just pulled out of the home depot parking lot. The lower owlet was chattering at me after it left. I don't know whether it was blaming me or commiserating. I think the trees are cottonwoods, but I could be wrong. No leaves yet, and I assumed based on their pond-side location.
