Water Flow Detail
Great day spent in King County's backcountry near MRNP with Joe, Bruce and Heidi. We had fun talking and shooting. One of the things we talked about was processing, and more specifically, decisions about lightening shadows and finding that line between improving color and detail vs. "over processing".
So, I'm going to post the original photo of a section of a creek, and follow it with the processed version.

Here's the original: Panasonic Lumix GH3, 35-100 @ 100; f 9, 1/30, ISO 800, -0.33 EV. Handheld with support of a well placed boulder.

And here is the processed version using Cs5 for cloning, dodging and burning and levels, and NIK Viveza + NIK Color Efex Warnth and Brilliance filter for color and detail enhancement.

Looks nice, Catherine. Certainly not overprocessed looking. Just enough to bring out the detail. I like it.

Looks good Catherine, the colors on the log in the upper right might be a bit strong.

Love this. Very nice composition and colors. I think I see George Washington in that middle rock though...might want to make the spots less face-like.

Nice comp Catherine! Thank heavens for those well placed boulders...

Nice! Good comp and I love the comparison of the pre vs post processing. I agree the color of the log might be a bit strong but otherwise I definitely like the post processed version best.
