Hack for Scaling Photoshop for Hi Res Monitors

Here's the hack: http://surfaceproartist.com/blog/2013/12/11/hack-makes-photoshop-and-illustrator-readable-on-surface-pro

It's worked for many people, including me on a Yoga 2 Pro (3200x1800, which I frequently set to 1920x1080 for apps that haven't caught up yet). However, it only worked for me for a day, and then it reverted. Damn.

Adobe fixed this already for LR, but not yet for PS. And the usual finger-pointing ensues: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5793832

If anyone knows how to get the hack working again, please post it. Thanks.

Hey Lance, I'm fairly sure PS now supports this with their latest update, which came out about a month ago. But that only applies to CC of course.

I have CC and it doesn't support HiDPI yet. However, I figured out my issue and the hack now works for me.

Thanks, Paul.

You're right, it's only fixed for the Mac. I saw your posts on the Adobe Forum, interesting how Adobe blames Microsoft's APIs, yet Lightroom & InDesign work fine. As a programmer that tells me they are suffering from a case of "whoops, because we programmed Photoshop this a certain way years ago, it's now biting us because we can't access the new APIs without an entire code rewrite". Then we blame the APIs. About as common as sun flare in a 14mm lens. Might as well blame the knife when we cut ourselves.

How does the hack really work for you? Do you see Photoshop as you should and everything looks hunky dory? Does that hack affect any other app? I might go 4K but am very interested in your feedback.

The hack is great.

When I use PS (and everything else) on the Y2P monitor, I set Windows Text Display at 150%. When I attach the Y2P to an external 24" monitor, I have to decrease the Windows Display Text to 125%. PS is now completely usable on both monitors. Whew.

This is a case where the Y2P monitor (3200x1800) and other HiDPI monitors are ahead of the apps.

It would be nice if Adobe would support the hack or some other kind of patch in a CC update, until they have a permanent fix, so people like us wouldn't have to mess around with the hack. It wasn't easy to find.
