My First Bird
Hi there, not posted on here for a while, my very first post back in early 2009 was a Dipper so I thought it right after a while away to post another,as the title goes.

I use to draw these birds as a 12 year old, two circles, with a faint pencil then add the details and rub out the boarder I believe it was the start of my photography without evening knowing

The place I have being going to since then too, its just a nice simple portrait showing what these birds do best and their river habitat many thanks

Nikon F4VR600

Hi Craig,

It's a lovely capture! I might crop a bit from the bottom to make a panorama. As the bottom of the frame looks a bit empty and it would suit the posure of the bird well.

Cheers,
Marko

Thank you for your comment Marko, I kind of like the dead space in the foreground and I can see your point but thanks again  :toast:

Craig it's good to see you posting again, your Dipper looks spot on! great colour and detail and the splashes of water adds more interest, take both your and Marko's point re the bottom of the image, can't make up my mind.
Hope all is well with you.

Ey up Matey,

I agree with KM, it is good to see you back posting on here, this forum needs some of the top pros posting on a regular basis to get it back to how it used to be. When I first joined there was to be a real buzz about the place, knowing that when you posted an image you would receive some great critique from both us amateurs and from some of the best in the business.

Anyhoo, tis a smart image with a super feeding pose from the Dipper, works for me as posted.

Hope you are well and keep those images coming.

Andy...

Thank you for the comments folks, and nice to post again, Hi Andy hope you ok, I don't see myself as anyone really, I just manage to make a living doing what I love. I have fond memories good and bad from when I first joined here in early 2009 it was the first year I had a DSLR and my 600mm, I learnt myself everything camera wise which was tough being dyslexic as I couldn't understand the manuals so learned as I shot kind of thing. I went forward with my work. I had lots of help in those early days and its a shame so many have left but its not for me to say whats right or wrong about leaving. Quality and passion will always stand the test of time and this forum has that compared to others. Thank you too Kim nice to see you still here, all the best to you all.

The colours you have caught here make this image for me. Great POV too.

Great to see you back.

Opening up the larger upload really brings out the detail Craig, love the low down point of view and the water splashes really add to the shot.

Gary.
