Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the advice and comments over the last year. My first year is up and since I'm not selling anything and don't have a existing community of buddies here, it's hard to justify the $50/yr based on alternatives out there. $10 a year would work, to participate and not be able to sell anything. Just a little parting feedback.
Thanks,
Jeff

You could contribute an article to NPN and receive a year's membership as "payment". I have done it several times and think it's a very fair deal.

Thanks Luke, reading back my note maybe the "since I'm not selling anything" comment was ambiguous, I should have said "since I'm not trying to sell anything". The parting feedback I was trying to leave is not that I can't afford it or it's not working for me, but presumably as a member of a demographic this site and other members would want to attract and keep - a newish, learning, amateur, enthusiastic nature-curious photographer with disposable income to spend on gear and trips and instruction - I don't see the $50 value proposition for this site after being a member for a year. And if that were a topic of active discussion here, and my $50 was even potentially going towards adding value to the user/member experience, I'd probably renew, but a year has shown me it isn't and likely won't. So I'm opting for the "voting with your wallet" thing.
Thanks,
Jeff

And I'm making you aware that there is at least one viable way to maintain your membership here without bringing your wallet into the equation. To each his own

I am curious as to what you want NPN to be for you? What's missing? What could be improved?
