Got this email today -
It says "FREE" and "Yours to keep forever" - but there may be some fine writing somewhere I didn't catch.

For Mac and PC

Hope it's true - I don't need it, but others might

Yep, it's true and no strings attached. They always have Perfects Effects 4 available as a free download with a limited set of filters, but this time they are offering the full version of the latest version 8.1. There's no catch, they just want you to buy (or upgrade) to their latest suite which, just like the Nik Collection, has 7 or 8 software titles in the suite. Great deal, grab it!

I have had the entire photo suite since version 7.0. When I went to Photoshop CC and the latest version of the full suite 8.1 IT NO LONGER WORKS. Just FYI. This has been since early December 5013!!!!!!!!!! OnOne for now over a month has been unable to correct whatever is wrong. When launched from PS, it locks up PS. When launched standalone, it opens but does not work on psd files. OnOne has been very gracious in offering a refund but I don't want a refund, only the software to work. In addition, to install takes OVER TWO HOURS. In fairness, I believe it to be some quirk combination of Photoshop CC+onOne+my computer but onOne cannot figure out the issue. The only suggestion they now have is for me to wipe my hard drive, reinstall all my programs and try again. Not a very attractive option.

So, be forewarned, if you decide to do the whole suite, caveat emptor

Just got it, too. Thanks..... But, I did notice, that in the agreement fine print, it said "for 64 bit windows only". Luckily, I do have a 64 bit system.

John Reed: when I started using Photoshop CC instead of PS CS6, I found that I needed to do a fresh download and install of all plugins from Nik, OnOne, Topaz and Pixel Genius. I did so without having to uninstall anything, and they all seem to be working correctly with PS CC. The new install went quickly on all products. It sounds like there is some conflict on your computer, but I agree OnOne's suggestion that you wipe your hard drive seems a bit extreme. How about uninstalling/reinstalling just PS and the OnOne suite?

Thanks Greg. Good idea!! It does seem a safe bet it's my machine. It's just so frustrating when Perfect Photo 7.5 and CS6 worked fine, then "boom" it all goes to heck. I really don't fault onOne totally. Just wish they had some better ideas. I did have to reinstall Topaz and Nik and both of them went flawlessly and work just fine, Noise Ninja too all of which makes it even more mysterious why onOne wouldn't play nice but everybody else's software did. That's the little piece that I think still belongs in their court regardless of my machine. On a side note, I just a while ago got word from them that they're sending me a check so I can only assume that means they've given up and I just have to live without Perfect Photo Suite. A shame for both of us. I sincerely hope nobody else experiences the same thing.
