Things around here are still very quiet. Christmas could not be the reason, New Year's hangeover shall be cured by now, so I think it's time to start posting again...
This one is from the autumn. This fungi only grows on pine cones. I don't know the English name. It's scientific name is Strobilurus esculentus.
Great detail and well found image. If it were mine I'd crop the base to leave only the cone and no ground. Just to make it slightly more abstract and get the viewer thinking just a little more
At first I tended to side with John and though it might be better without the green base, but I'm not so sure as it does provide a 'ground' and the green mosses compliment the green background.
Out of curiousity... did you have to do much gardening or move the cone to get the clean shot?
I need to remove couple of needles from the cone itself. The moss was fine. The biggest chalange was background. Luckily with some turning of the cone, I got moss covered rock to the background.
Keith, the tripod was plat on the ground. Luckily for me, the cone was on the slope, so I got decently comfortable "working position" .
Cheers,
Marko

This is so different, a great composition. I cannot find anything to criticise - there isn't any point in trying!! I find it delightful. I hope there will be more posting in the future.

Very nicely done, Marko. A quality macro shot IMO.
