Simon like you I do wonder about the decline of these birds, I don't think a lot as changed over the last few years in my part of Lincolnshire in fact farming wise it might be slightly better but there still going down. I have not got a shot of a Barn Owl either sitting our flying so I'm a bit green with envy about this very nice shot of yours .
Put up my 5th Little Owl box this week so they might help this species.

Hi Simon,
I'm not in a position to comment on Barn Owl status in UK. I do like your flight photo: wings position and intense look are the things that makes this photo for me. And just enough detail in the background to have some idea, where this birds hunt.
Hello Simon , very few barn owls down here on the Essex coast , not much of anything , I bought a new camera 4 months ago and have yet to take a shot in anger. This kink may explain the lack of owls.
Regards, Bob.

Lighting looks a bit harsh but otherwise a classic B O shot.

4 repliesHi all
This is getting an increasingly rare sight nowadays, even in my neck of the woods - it's once stronghold of Norfolk. Worrying days ahead.
