One from the Slimbridge car park hedgerows
Oly E3, 300mm F2.8 plus 1,4 tc, iso 200, 1/1250s at f4, car as hide.
Typical winter afternoon light, providing more clarity to the image without harshness. I think this also helps my camera's limited dynamic range - the whites and blacks have held up reasonably well for a change
It's in a bit different enviroment, that I'm use to see them. I like how the dark colur of the bird contrasts with the busy yet monochrome background. A nice enviromental portrait.
It's the type of image that you'd see in a bird identification book/textbook etc .
It doesn't do a lot for me other than give a very decent description of what a Moorhen is. This is by no means a bad thing or criticism, it's just that I like to see a bit of action/behaviour in a photo
Cheers
John

Nice image Mike, detail held well in lights and darks which with these and Coots can be a tough job.
Nicely done.
