Nikon F5 year of manufacture differences?

Faced with a dilemma: repair F5 (brokrn lensemount, cable socket, dented finder) with serial number 316xxx or spend extra $100 and get nearly mint used F5 with serial number 312xxx(maybe 313xx)
Did Nikon make any kind of improvements between those date of manufacture? Any info or opinions will be much appreciated.

Jack, we have two F5's, one with serial number 3109993 purchased August, 1998, the other with 3173911 purchase December, 2000. We cannot detect any differences between the two.
