Raw image repository for learning?

I would find it incredibly useful if we had a repository of contributed Raw images members have shot with their various gear combos, that we could download and play with in our processing software. If in addition the contributor could post an NPN large processed version we could compare our efforts to, and/or have a way to post our processing effort back along with other members' efforts, to compare and discuss, I think that would greatly help my processing skills. I also would just love to be able to peruse Raw nature images from different gear combos to help inform my Next New Gear daydreaming efforts...

thanks,
Jeff

Neat idea Jeff. I would certainly be willing to share some images that I don't plan on selling. Maybe Jim will consider it.

I'm in, I've got a lot of lousy shots you can work on, lol! Good exposure, bad comp or light... I'd be happy to contribute. Shoot with a Canon 5D3.

Jeff: If my memory serves me correctly, you brought this up before. I think it is a good idea. I volunteered to work images in Raw and post processing from a request like yours (if it wasn't yours) to help people learn what might be possible. I do a lot of post processing instruction here in Albuquerque as well as on the web. I'm sure I could learn from the techniques other's apply as well. Sounds like a nice idea to me.

Yup, about 6 mo ago I think and it didn't gel into anything so I thought I'd mention it again in case somebody's interested and could run with it however that'd need to happen. If there was enough interest it might be most straightforward to set up a new member's only gallery + forum pair ("Digital Workshop" ?), with a moderator with access to a file storage area for the Raws. Or just run it through postings in this forum, just with figuring out some way, for members-only I assume, to submit and download Raws for the working files. And if NPN doesn't have room or support for accepting and providing Raws it would be straightforward for a moderator to set up a free Dropbox or similar area to accept submissions and then could post links for downloads of images stored there.

Personally, I've always wanted a weekly, or maybe every other week, raw posting of 1 file that everyone could download. Then at the end of the time period, everyone could post their version with what they did; and the next image would be available.

I think I actually suggested it a few years ago and it didn't go anywhere. I think the size of the raw files and administration makes it a bit more complicated than it might seem at first, but I'd love to participate.

Sounds like a great idea to me!
