Hello everyone,

I'm James and just recently joined naturephotographers.net. (So be kind) I thought might kick off by introducing myself and telling you a little bit about who I am.

Well I live in Brisbane Queensland Australia at the moment but have lived in Africa, New Zealand, Canada and the US. I believe that my love for natural history came from my time in Africa when I would room the bush in search for adventures. It wasn't until I left Africa that I seriously took up photography.

Even then it wasn't the still camera I turned to but an old 16mm Bolex camera I bought second hand. I really wanted to be a wildlife cameraman like Alan Roots or Dieter Plage just to name a few.

By the early 1980’s, I was in the right place at the right time when an international documentary film was filming on my patch and asked if I would like to assist. From that moment on I was working for many of the leading natural history production houses in the UK and US filming documentaries until the end of the 1990’s. I have 11 international credits with natural history documentaries.

From the late 1990’s I gave away the cinematography work to concentrate on nature photography with the still camera. So I guess you could say I've’ve been at it for 30 odd years.

I believe in an ethical approach to nature photography and try to instil such values to all my clients and anyone that will listen.

I hope this short intro might inspire you to check out my website and read some of my blog posts and look at some of my images to get even a better feel for who I am and where I’m heading. Feel free to leave comments or to share, link to my website, or like on facebook twitter or whatever you use!

Thanks for reading.
Cheers
James

Welcome to the NPN site James. Your intro outlines what sounds like a pretty extensive & solid background in overall photographic endeavors. I did take a quick look at your website and specifically your landscape work which is very popular here at NPN. I look forward to seeing your posts and comments in the future here at NPN.

Thanks Guys & Gals! I'm still trying to workout how things work here NPN. I try and be a worthy contributor.

Paul, unfortunately we don't have much in the way of interesting Landscapes where I am at the moment. Hence why there is possibly a dull shine in that gallery from me. :-(

No worries, James. My review of your landscape gallery was based more on my personal interest as that is where my own work is usually posted here on NPN. Again, welcome to the site whatever your photographic interests might be, there is a category for most all types of photographic work.
