Guadalupe Mountains National Park-Texas Fall Color
We are getting good color out in west Texas right now. I just spent the week out in the area around Guadalupe Mountains National Park.

Colors are peaking now in the desert canyons there with some amazing reds and oranges in the maples there. I consider it to be the most vivid color in the west. It is also all but unknown by people heading to all the famous destinations.

If you like fall color I think it is a place that needs to go on your list of places to visit.

See more on my blog about the day I spent in the Dog Canyon area in the remote northwest corner of the park. How remote is it? You gotta drive through New Mexico for 100 miles to get to it.

The Guadalupes are desert mountains and the maples here hang on in narrow desert canyons. To get an idea of the fragile nature of the area take a look how the trees are confined to the canyon floor near the creek or in shady drainages.

Nice Darren, sounds like a productive trip. It looks like fall hitting all over the place.

Nice contrast in these photos. Would really like to see higher resolution. I bet that would bring a lot which we are not seeing.
Kudos.

Both are great Darren, but I especially like the second one. I never knew there was so much color to be found down there. Thanks for sharing!
