Milkyway over Chimney Rock
The week when I was{and some of you were) in Colorado it was new moon and it worked out great for star gazing. This is at Chimney Rock near Owl Creek Pass, the site of the final shootout in the original True Grit movie.

This is the north face of Capitol Peak, just west of the crowds at Maroon Bells.

This is about as close as I got to an icon shot, the Crystal Mill. I arrived about 3:30 and was prepared to wait for evening light with about 40 or 50 others that were already there. At some point 3 young boys came down to the creek on the right side with their fishing poles and several of the "pros" started yelling at them to move. Turns out that the boys' family owned the property and their father soon arrived only to get yelled at by the same guys. It was getting pretty ugly and the colors weren't that great anyway, so I left for the solitude of Lead King Basin.

I got this later that evening, the famous "s" ridge of Snowmass.

Some more of my weeks pictures can be seen here

Great photos. I was at the Crystal Mill back in the 1950's !!!!! Did not know it was still there. Private property is private property. I think the photographers were out of line.

Great series. One of the nice things about photographing in Texas is it is rare to encounter other photographers . 50 at one spot is 49 too many. :-)

Very nice Ken! I enjoyed them all. Milkway shots are my next focus. Kate's Meadow was a great place to get one!
