ID Please
This pigeon, dove or whatever has been hanging out at a local rose garden all year. Definitely not a local wild bird. His feathers are curly, not wet. Glowing feathers around neck make me lean toward pigeon. Homing pigeon? He is banded. Have checked three bird ID books and he is not in them.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Patricia, If I remember my pigeons from when I raised them as a kid, this fancy breed is called a Frill or Frill Back.

Thanks Ron. Was worried whether he can live through a New England winter. If not should a Bird Rescue service be called? I am going to Elizabeth Park today and will update if he is still there.

Patricia, this place looks as if they can help:

He/she surely cannot live thru the winter alone and would like to be back home.

Just returned from Elizabeth Park. No pigeon to be found. Someone said that a wedding party released doves (or maybe these pigeons) to celebrate their wedding ! Hope the local hawks didn't get him.
