I have a frustrating printing issue with my Epson 3880 that I have not been able to solve or find any helpful information in Epson manual or in on-line forums so I'm turning to some of you more technically "advanced" folks for help.
The problem is neither the photo (PK) or matte black ink is printing at all (does seem as if LK and LLK are printing). A b&w word document prints completely blank and color document prints colors only.
I've run multiple head cleanings and power cleaning cycles and also the windex trick of soaking the foam pad and letting the print head sit on it overnight.
Also I've noted the following:
The nozzle check prints OK with no gaps in any of the colors or the LK and LLK blacks but there is no PK or MK pattern at all.
After the overnight head cleaning noted above, I made several perfect prints. Several hours later the prints came out blank again.
PK cartridge is nearly new but all of a sudden it's empty. A nearly new Maintenance cartridge is already 85% full.
PK cartridge is now empty but an ink level check shows it 60% full.
Has anybody experienced anything like this? Thanks.

Barry,
Sounds very frustrating. I have never experienced any problems like this with mine. It would be worth checking to see if there are any firmware updates available for your printer - beyond that I think you may have to have it serviced.

Barry - I would try calling Epson or contacting them online... they should provide support for their high end printers. Walk through what you've tried already with them and maybe they can help.

David: Yes I plan to call Epson after the holiday weekend but I was hoping someone had seen and fixed a similar problem so I had some inside knowledge before talking to them. Thanks.
