Deformed deer horns and now deformed blue tit beaks; I hope that these have Natural causes, John   Is there much spraying activity in your area? Great capture of an interesting and thought provokng subject.

It is obviously an adult and it makes you wonder how it has survived. I presume its deformity is not that much of a hindrance to feeding since it looks in the prime of health. Very interesting natural history shot JR. TFS

I have seen this before, but in blackbirds rather than blue tits. As far as I can tell, it happens when the two mandibles of the beak do not quite meet, and fail to wear each other down. The bird appears none the worse for it, and it is an interesting natural history shot.

Finally found the one from last year. Not the same bird I suspect.
