This is Leighton, as in Leighton Buzzard. The shot is another one from my recent visit to Vince Jones at the Barn owl Centre. I have hesitated over posting this for a while, as I am not sure about the composition. In some respects it is a little like David Taylor's recent song thrush. I rather like that wheel on the left, but it puts the eye of the bird right in the middle of the photo. How would you crop it? What you have here is virtually full frame.

Thanks for looking.

David

Maybe I'm biased but I like it as it is, David. IMO the bird is balanced by the wheel, to the bottom left, which creates a diagonal with the bird's left wing that is pleasing to me. The perch is the icing on the cake, I love shabby chic!

It would have been great if it had a vole or a mouse in its beak, but only if it had been out hunting itself.

I agree with Mr T in that the comp works as is David. If you crop from the left the wheel rim won't connect with the frame corner which will probably upset the balance. I would be tempted to clone out the bit of meat in the birds beak though.

I like the comp David as you need to include that wheel and there is just enough room to the right. I too would look at removing the meat
