This is the first time in five years I've seen these falls running like this. The water was crystal clear despite the recent rains.
I hiked like a mad man to get to the falls before it started raining.
Got the shots, had a snack and then headed out for the 2.5 mile hike. On my way out I passed a small pond that I didn't recognize. So.. I pulled out my GPS and sure enough I had taken the wrong trail. UGH! 5 mile hike turned into an 8 mile hike.

Sounds like something I would do ... of course I'd only have to be a few hundred yards from my car to start with. Beautiful work Rod. Thanks for sharing.

Still sounds like a fun day to me.

Rod, it looks like the effort was worth the extra work. The rains have been epic. Paddled the Mulberry yesterday at a level of 5 feet. No one can remember this much water in August. Hopefully, it will be a nice for fall colors!

So how many miles would it have been if you weren't observant and checked? Probably would have still been worth it. The rains have been great, and you guys are lucky to have so many waterfalls nearby. I need to get out and visit our "local" falls and Chase County, it has been nearly dry for over two years but I bet it's running good now.

Sorry to be so late, Rod...nice work getting this shot, even if it took a little extra work!
