An attempt at stacking a still life - Allium sp head, a natural firework if ever there was one.....

Oly E620, 50mm f2 macro, iso 200 I/3s at F4 - 5 stacked images using Combine ZP, tripod and mini lighting cube with black felt backdrop

lol... it is quiet - usually is over summer hols though - good weather, kids on holiday - hopefully everyone enjoying themselves for a bit!

Different shot Mike. I can't make my mind up with the yellowy colour though - I might prefer a B&W or even a duotone/tritone version or something like a cyanotype. Certainly plenty of variants to try out.

Thanks Nick - good to see you here again.

I had tried a pure B&W conversion but preferred the colour (I had actually enhanced the coloration with a 50% overlay layer of guassian blur @ rad 4)

The above is with a warm up filter, I am a bit restricted on the fancier stuff as I use Elements not full PS - disadvantages of the amateur not being able to justify the ludicrous prices being charged by Adobe

Its nice, I do prefer your original version... however it looks over sharpened on my screen... CombineZm/p does give a sharpening to the stack somehow... I think JR used to use it as a sharpening workflow.... nowt wrong with Elements, most people only use about 5% of what is in PS and probably 50% of what is in Elements....

Try leaving it in colour, select all and then invert the whole image (colour cmd/ctrl-I or something like that, not invert top to bottom!). (you might not have to select all - just try inverting it... it's been a long day!)

Ahh I see now, not quite as I originally envisiged the shot, but quite interesting result :wavey:

Go back to the original colour one and just do a straight invert (cmd/ctrl-i) you should get a clean white background & a cyan coloured burst.

I have deleted my last comment after being accused by a member of the forum of being an "unhappy old fart".
(I feel I may have earned some of that right.)
I was also accussed of being the " main reason for the undermining of this forum." .
That will do me .
After my posting record- even I can't swallow that. The sender of the message could perhaps justify his comments but I am not that bothered.
Funny old world.

Funny old world indeed, John. Undermining the forum is a ridiculous claim, and should be treated with the contempt it deserves. As for Mike's picture, I like the original version best.
