I know what I said about the 200-400 on Mike Smiths thread but having read Danny Green & Andy Rouses reports, and of course Mr Astbury's comments on the lens I could not resist. Backing Phil Mickleson to win 'The Open' helped finance the deal and I took delivery yesterday
My first thoughts are that it is very sharp with the extender in place and being able to zoom out from 560 to 280 is amazing. No more reaching for the 70-200 when a cheetah is running towards me
I leave for a two week trip to the Kruger and False Bay on friday and cant wait to really put the lens to the test
The fox is the best of the bunch from last night. The light was poor but I was keen to try out the lens. The lights perfect tonight but the wife is dragging me out
1Dmk4 200-400 f4 @ 533mm f5.6 ISO 1250 1/500 tripod and mongoose head from a bag hide. Crop from a pano. Quickly tweaked in DPP
Wow, must admit I had an inclining you sounded very love sick when we were talking about it.... I hope it serves you well and I look forward to seeing the results from Africa
Bob it looks really sharp on the head and those eyes really draw you into the image, looks like that piece of kit you have got really does the business bet you can't wait to get to Africa. Have a great time look forward to seeing your results .
