Birds nest orchid
One from last month, a bit of a strange plant being without chlorophyll, in the Chilterns found in beech tree woodlands where it is saprophytic on their roots, similar concept to the brooomrape and toothwort families, favours deep shade so I assume has evolved to not photosynthesise.
Oly e620, 150mm F2 plus EX25 extension tube, iso 200, 1/8s at F5.6 tripod (deep woodland shade!), anti-shock set to 5 second delay. natural lighting highlights to parts of the plant resulting in a strange green hue to the shadow detail which I assume is a function of the prevailing light conditions Full frame in original 4:3rds format
I've a few full plant images but the specimen plant was tallish resulting in lack of impact compared to this framing.
Apologies for lack of comments this last week, but I've had a week painting and decorating in a property with no internet access.
