Does anyone plan to use this when it's available?

ML Improve 5Diii Dynamic Range?

I haven't used ML because it hasn't offered anything that screams at me yet. I don't do video and I'm a bit chicken about using ML anyway, given the possibility, albeit very low, of unsupported camera problems.

I have a 5Dii and a 7D. I love both of them. However, my biggest issue with both of them is noise. The 7D is great for bif shots, but I have to clean up the noise even at iso 400 in good light. The 5Dii requires lots of noise clean-up for high iso/low light/long exposures.

Btw, I've tried the 5Diii, and its noise management wasn't much better (iso 1600, 30 seconds, f.28 raw), despite all the reviews I read. If you want to see examples, just look at the snow on shots in my Abisko gallery. No details in the snow, due to the noise removal required, using ACR and Noiseware. I tried the other leading noise removal programs too. Same results.

If this worked for the 5Dii, I would take the risk and install it. When they deliver it for the 7D, if the reviews are good, I will install it.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Lance,
I've had the 7D in the past & sold it. I still have my 5DII & now have the 5DIII. My 5DIII is much better for noise than the II but it's still there in low light situations as you describe. I've found that, for noisy areas, I either bracket the shots, or over expose just a bit and pull down the exposure in Lightroom. Any areas where I have to boost the exposure do show quite a bit of noise. I get most noise in the blues on the 5DIII. I've not had good luck with the in camera noise reduction. I've just stuck to "exposing to the right" where possible.

Here's a longer exposure I took with little to no noise issues as I had to pull down the exposure a bit http://goo.gl/wKXAd

Beautiful shot. Little to no noise at those settings? I wish that would happen for me.
