Mountain hare II
D7000 500mm f4 ISO 320 1/640s at f8 handheld lay prone using a tussock as a support.

I came across this hare at about 2,500' lay out of the wind just resting. Although I was completely visible to the hare the wind was in my face and it did not seem bothered at all and I spent almost an hour in its company until it eventually finished grooming, stretched and walked TOWARDS me. It stopped alongside me approx 8' away, studied me for a few seconds, and ambled off behind me. As you can see from the photo it is almost dozing and I like the relaxed pose on this shot.

Many thanks for the comments on my last post, greatly appreciated.

That’s a cracking picture, I love the grumpy expression on its face, a complete contrast to your last shot, was the last pic of a young hare?

Lovely detail on the animal itself, especially in the large version. Great work, Nick.

Many thanks fellas!

Bob C, the previous post is showing a young hare I think going off its head and feet. This hare is a different animal.
