The Gates of Lodore
I just got back from a 4 day 45 mile raft trip through the Gates of Lodore section of the Green
River. This is where John Wesley Powell began his epic journey through the Grand Canyon. Lots of whitewater rapids named by Powell including Disaster Falls and Hell's Half Mile.

Powell lost a boat and one third of his provisions at Disaster Falls, so he decided to portage Hell's Half Mile.

The scenery was excellent and I was able to take take many photographs along the way. Here is a shot from camp #3 on July 4th. I will post more soon.

Beautiful. The color in the sky and the cloud formations are a nice touch.

Well if this is any indication, the rest of your photos ought to be awesome too.

Sounds like a lot of interest in your trip, Tom, now the pressure is really on.

I don't know much about rafts but it doesn't look like those are the giant rafts that you see most tourists floating on in the GC. I bet that was a lot of fun.
