Looking for an early fall option to Colorado Aspens also. Late September into first few days of October. Looking for intimate forest scenes birch with color - small ponds - other reflection type images.

Will drive form TN, stash a vehicle fly back home and return for few days at ACadia midmonth and then drive back. IF NE color sucks then will do CO.

Looking for locations, camping locations, in / out airport - any and all tips. Not looking so much for grand scenics and definitely don't want a bumper to bumper Cades Cove sort of crowd.

Unfortunately need to start reserving time off soon so need idea of when color is good in an AVERAGE year to plan - will fine tune as it gets close if color is late or early.

White Mtns - ? Baxter? - northern Vt -

thanks in advance - If you have Blue Ridge Parkway or Smokies questions would be happy to reciprocate

Nye,

The reference date for good color for the areas you mentioned I have listed below. They seem to be less reliable than they were 5 or 10 years ago but they are still what I use. Hopefully others here in the northeast can give you their reference dates:

Baxter Sept 20 thru 30

White Mtns / N. Vermont somewhere in the first or second week of October should have good color and you will likely hit the peak color one of those weeks

I will share some locations with you in a later post.
