Will be in the Zion area the next week or two and will have some free time to get out with the camera. Planning on checking out Illinois Beach State park. Looking for other suggestions within a hour or two of Zion to check out.

Thanks

Check out Rock Cut State Park about an hour or so west of Zion on RT 173. 3100 acres of woods, wetland, prairie, and a lake.

Jim,

Thanks, will do.

Also thinking about checking out the Leopold Wildlife Refuge in Wisonsin. looks like about a two hour drive, would it be worth the trip this time of year?

Thanks

What do you like to photograph? You could stop off at Horicon Marsh, near Waterton WI. It has both a federal section and a state section. Good birding and landscape there. I have never been to Leopold.

Jim

Thanks again for the suggestion. I prefer to shoot wildlife but won't pass up other good photo subjects when I get them. Checked out their website, looks like a good plact to check out, I like that they have a autotour, other refuges I have visited with autotours usually provided some good photo taking opportunities with a little luck and patience.

If you get near Rock Cut State Park stop into the concession. I am the operator and in the summer I pretty much live there. We have deer, foxes, and wild turkeys. I would be glad to show you around.
