Next week I'll be coming down from Washington State to Orlando with my wife so she can attend a convention. I'd rather not spend my time there in theme parks. I'd appreciate any suggestions of photo destinations within a daylong road trip of Orlando. Thanks!

Try Gator Land in Orlando. There is a huge area with many different birds around a lake area and you can get some great images from their boardwalk. Of course, there are plenty of opportunities for alligator photos. Touristy but worth the time. Also, take an airboat ride into the everglades. Some great photo opportunities for scenery. The birds are all scared away by the boat noise. Good luck. Andrew

I'm not sure what subjects you are looking for, but Orlando Wetlands Park is very popular with the bird and other wildlife photographers. I haven't been there myself, but you'll probably see a lot similar to gatorland without the touristy.

Thanks for the suggestions Andrew and Paul, I'll have to check out the Wetlands Park and Gator Land. Hopefully I can get down to the Everglades as well.
