Lightroom 5 - a word of warning

Lightroom 5 is now with us and is by all accounts a decent improvement on Lightroom 4.
BUT, if you want to upgrade or buy it your PC will need to be running Windows 7 or Windows 8. It will not install on XP or Vista. As I've just found out. :frown:

Not sure what Mac OS you'll need, but my old Mac wouldn't even run Lightroom 4.

Thanks Martin. That's going to be a disappointment and frustration for many.

Here is a different warning: http://regex.info/blog/2013-06-10/2268

Gary..
You might be surprised at the number of people still running XP

That's true, Don. However, support from MS for XP will be ending. When that happens it will be an even bigger security risk. I haven't heard anything about Vista in this regard, but Win 7 and 8 are soooo much better--upgrade if you can.

Resistance is futile.

You will be assimilated. We will add your distinctiveness to our own.

Then, presumably, you'll also need to upgrade your processor, and , and and it never ends.

On the Mac platform, OS 10.7 or newer is required for Lightroom 5. Also minimum 2GB of RAM (4 GB recommended).

The whole upgrade mill is like a treadmill, except the only weight I lose is from my wallet!
