Hi All,

My Upgrade CS2 CD should be here soon and I am wondering what issues I might expect when upgrading my current PS 6.0 (licensed) installation?

I am using a Dell Dimension 8400 Windoze PC with WinXP-ProSP2, 3.0 Ghz P4, 1 GB Ram.

Thanks for your help!

-PB

ps: Tips for a smooth upgrade will greatly appreciated. too!

CS2 is much nicer but is also a huge memory hog. Your system should be able to run it well but you may feel some slowing down compared to 6. I would suggest bumping the memory to 2GB if/when you can.

Preston,
I just upgraded from PS7 to CS2.
The biggest change was the decrease in speed.
With all the same settings everything slowed down quite a bit. I believe I have 1.5G of RAM right now and definitely need more.

I just upgraded from CS to CS2 so I could have Adobe Camera RAW for my D200 and I was amazed at how it would hardly run on my system with only 512 M of RAM. CS worked just find, but not CS2. I had to add another 512 M of RAM just to be able to run, although everything is fine now.

Wow - you would have thought the internal coding would get improved after all of these years....I've been happy with PS7, but I need the 16 bit editing now.

I have a question about CS2 upgrade: Does the installation process request that the CD/Rom of PS6 or PS7 be loaded to verify the license or does it just check for presence on the hard drive ?

From 6 to CS2 you will see some major difference is how the program functions, from grouping, to adjustment layers, type handling, vector layers and etc. All a major improvement, but it will take getting used to.

From CS to CS2 I saw no change in speed on my mac.

Mark - if PS6 is installed on the hard drive, you will not need the PS6 install discs. CS2 will find it on the hard drive.
Preston - you can upgrade directly from PS6 to CS2 with no problems.

Hi All,

Thanks for the tips and info! The install went without a hitch! Now all I have to do is negotiate the learning curve.

Thanks again,
