I took this image on Friday evening in western Kansas, just north of Monument Rocks. This formation is naturally reddish in color, and sits on private lands out in a pasture. A storm was passing just north of the rocks, and the resulting light set the tone for the rest of the evening. I posted a wide view in the Landscape Gallery. 7D, ISO 200, 1/200, f/11, 259 mm with small crop. C&C always welcome and appreciated.
I am usually at work, using my work monitor, when I view the posts but tonight I am home on my photo monitor and this looks awesome!!! I can see the rainbow colors right above the rocks popping out! Nice!!!!!
Nice shot, Rob. I always thought some of those other formations in the area would make some potential subjects. Your efforts paid off nicely. i also like your wider shot. I have read that the new owner of monument rocks is considering fencing them off for liabilty concerns. Have you head any more about that?
Rob, the unusual light, what is is all about, made this very eye-catching. I personally would have liked a bit more foreground if it was in focus.
I bet this was a memorable moment.
