I'm curious about what others find to be good info sosurces and just plain enjoyable to read. For my part, I get Outdoor Photographer which is okay and has some nice articles but really could be better. Popular Photography keeps me up on the wider world and has lots of gear info, etc. I, also, look at Shutterbug occasionally as it's quite different from the others with interesting equipment stuff and a very good Q & A on the digital darkroom. My favorite, though, is Outdoor Photography from the UK. It's expensive but has really great photos, a larger format, and it's just plain different from our US mags.
I haven't subscribed to a printed photography magazine in years, or any printed magazine. On line, the only one I spend much time with is this one, NPN, even though my own photography has drifted away from the nature genre. In years gone by I subscribed to Popular Photography, Petersen's Photographic, and Outdoor Photography, not concurrently.
The only printed magazine I get is Outdoor Photographer, which had gotten pretty weak over the years. It seems like every issure mentions Ansel Adams on the cover. Ridiculous. Other online mags I really enjoy reading are Landscape & Wildlife Photographer, and F11.
I only subscribe to Outdoor Photography from the UK and Landscape Photography (both on line). I find many of the other landscape periodicals way below par these days. I also like the Canadian Outdoor Photography but it is currently only in print version and hard to find.
I get Outdoor Photographer and Shutterbug, which is good for equipment info. Occasionally I'll get Outdoor Photography from the UK, but as noted, it's expensive.
My internet is slow, and when I'm traveling for business, I don't generally like to spend the time to drag my laptop out in the evenings. But when I do, I go t Luminous Landscape and browse the forums at dpreview.
I haven't subscribed to a photo mag in years. I read an occasional copy of View Camera or Lenswork when one comes my way, but, other that, nothing else.
I find most of the mags pretty weak on content and long on ads: Not my cup of tea.
