Has anyone been on the Great Bear Nature Tour. I am interested
in a Land Based tour.
If so any

Bernie, can you please clarify? Is that the name of a specific tour/company, or are you wondering about Great Bear Rainforest tours in general?

A few folks here have been on or led tours up there, but Brad Hill is the real NPN expert on the region.

Bernie, I have been to the Great Bear Rainforest several times, and try to get up there once a year. As far as I am concerned, Everybody has their experiences and opinions, and Bred Hill is certainly one of the better ones, as is John Marriott. Both use an operator called Ocean Light II, THE best operator in the region, hands down. Either captain, Chris, or the owner Tom Elliott provides the tour of a lifetime. You can reach Tom's wife, Jenn Broom at <adventure@oceanlight2.bc.ca>. Tell her Garry sent you.

I've been with Brad a couple times and if I lived closer, I would love to go every year. As Garry says, the Ocean Light II is THE best operator in my opinion also. Their knowledge and experience in the GBR is fantastic.

Hi Bernie,

I run wildlife photography tours into the Great Bear Rainforest each spring and autumn. Spring tours are focused on an area called the "Khutzeymateen" - which is home to Canada's only grizzly sanctuary. My autumn tours are point-to-point expeditions and are more diverse wildlife-wise - we do work with grizzlies, but also target the rare Spirit Bear, black bears, Humpback Whales, and more.

There's far more information about these tours, and on the Great Bear Rainforest in general, on the Photo Tours page of my website. There are links there to downloadable brochures about the various tours I offer into the Great Bear.

If you have specific questions or more info, just contact me!

Cheers...

Brad

Maybe to address your question a little more specifically, you asked about "land based" tours. I don't know of any "Land based" tours in the GBR (Great Bear Rainforest) because there are very very few roads that go into that part of the northern coastline, and the terrain is very dense and difficult to negotiate. The chances of getting any bear shots, let alone seeing a bear in the forest is pretty remote. By far the best bear tours are by boat, and I can count on one hand the number of good guides for the area.

I hope that helps.
