Does anyone here have any experience selling on Etsy? It seems fairly easy to set up a "store". Sounds interesting but I wonder about the security and whether it is really worth it.
Thanks

I tried a few years ago Ed, never sold a print. But it's tough anywhere you park your images these days, in this economy.
My suggestion would be to pass it up, not worth the trouble IMO.

Thanks Howard. Since you didn't have any particular problems other than the poor market I may give it a whirl just to see what happens.
I opened an account a couple of months ago didn't get any traffic. I recently met a person who has sold antiques and other similar things on Etsy for years. She told me that it wasn't a very good site for photography. Just my two cents.
A couple years ago I tried selling small matted prints on Etsy with no success. Last year I tried selling my 2013 Utah calendars there and found limited success. Like Thomas, I don't think it's the best place to try to sell photography.

I have a shop on Etsy and I have sold prints on there. If I had to live on the money I make or made on Etsy, I would have starved. I spent more money on advertising than I made. I was or still am trying to establish some sort of a clientel. I just reopened my shop to give it another approach. I have been trying to sell pictures for years. I have my own wesite at baersphotography.com. I have never sold a picture from my website. I do know that marketing is the most important part besides being able to take fantastic shot of Nature. That's why I have joined this site, to learn more about marketing my work.
I'm also contemplating selling on Etsy. I've got a shop almost ready to go and was planning to sell metal prints. I'd like to hear if you have any luck.

So if not ETSY, is there a similar location that artists have found to draw enough traffic to make it worthwhile?
