Headed up to Roan Mountain after the quick moving snowstorm Friday to see what I could find. The crystal clear sapphire skies provided a fantastic backdrop for the heavy white snow that fell for 4-6 hours in our region. You just never know what things are going to look like on the Balds until you go... Like they "You never know until you go..." Well the drive up was breath taking. When I arrived at Carvers Gap it was a bust..! The storm was moving so fast that the snow blew across the Balds as opposed to sticking on everything.
Even though the majestic Highlands did not put on a show this time ....the journey was my destination.
This shot was taken on Hwy 143 just as you start up the mountain from Jacks Grocery at the base of Roan Mountain.

Great shots Harold. As you said the clear blue sky looks great with the fresh snow.
