Pine Silhouette, Washburn Point
Here's a counterpoint to all the fine Yosemite color images that have been posted lately. One morning last April, I drove up to Washburn Point. The conditions were such that colors were pretty flat or washed out, so I tried for some comps that might make decent B-W conversions. Not as competent at plant ID as I should be, but I'm assuming this is a Jeffrey pine.
As always your feedback is appreciated.

Very nice moody feel. Very likely a Jeffrey Pine.

Definitely moody. I like how the crown of the tree is framed by the lighter clouds, with the canyon below giving depth. B&W was a nice choice, Craig.

Looks like a Jeffrey to me, too.

I agree with the comments about the nice moody feel to the image. I might experiment with cropping off the right side a little bit, giving the tree a bit less centered feel and emphasizing the valley a bit more? B&W definitely works well with one.

Very nice image and I like the overall relief from the tree to the distant falls. Great mood, too.
